Hello!

This blog is dedicated to my sharings about general life and others, a bit of a personal memorial of my (now) youth and what I've done, seen, experienced, enjoyed. Life is finite, experiences are finite, but archival can make that experience last, just a little longer.

  • If you're looking for any specific content (i.e specific cars, etc), please use the search function and use your PC's Ctrl + F Search function. Unfortunately due to Blogger's shortcomings, the website's search function is not intuitive, so the Ctrl + F function helps alot. Happy reading!
  • Oh, and please do refer to using the web / PC version, as the mobile implementation isn't well done. Thank you!

Penang: Airtrek Turbo-R

 Airtrek Turbo-R

Penang - 14/9/23 - Hi I'm back, will try to summarize and not delve into some form of insanity-fueled rant or unnecessary writeup.

Penang.

Surprise Airtrek waiting at the airport.

The (original?) head unit was swapped to a bigger unit that supports Apple carplay/ Android auto. Easy pairing with bluebooth for music, more head units need this.

The speedometer proved non-functional. It'll be looked into on the next day, and the head unit displays speed, so there still is a presentation of vehicle speed even without the speedometer.

The engine may or may not have been in better condition when test driving. I'm not very sure just what is the actual issue:

-Noisy vibration (Engine mounts)
-Different sound accompanying the turbo spool (Broken hoses?)
-Diesel-like vibration & sound (Beforementioned engine mounts likely, but engine wise might just be me not being used to a 4G)

The Airtrek is the first turbo car that we own, so things that are normal are super foreign to our knowledge.

More beauty shots of the Airtrek will come later.
Dropping off luggage and getting breakfast comes first.

Food. Its nice. Especially Penang food. I would say they're comparably better than Singaporean meals, but it is probably attributed to the curiosity factor rating lesser-eaten meals higher than common foods eaten back in SG.
The Airtrek is a rare model in general in Malaysia, to say less of Singapore's population (2). Here are photos I took of the car, as a bit of a cope that it is not too pretty a model.

I actually like the look of the stripes and vinyl of unknown origin. The Mazda wheels suit the look too, apart from the Mazda logo. Otherwise, its a good basis of how the Airtrek can look. I mean, a red unit on Ralliart components look plenty cool already. Peek bottom source material for reference:

Its a super long way from a clean look like this, but at least the car exists.

The piping really needs some looking into, I don't know what else is causing the lower readings on the boost gauge and unexpected sounds.

Past this, there wasn't lots to contribute towards the evening. Here is this random compilation just to make up for it.

This should conclude today's entry. Tomorrow should come a trip to the mechanic's, minimally. Until then, see you! (After I sober up)
