Heyo~
This might be my last post helping Ellise with her adventures over in KL before she is invited to create her own posts over on here in CharadeSpots.
Now..
Over in Kuala Lumper, there again was a meetup hosted over the weekend, and we personally went down to participate in a four-car group.
Sadly, Ellise couldn't turn up in time, and another one of our colleagues had to return the Airtrek (Sorry Efini for taking your car again!), so a four-car show wasn't possible, but we managed three at a time.
As opposed with our first adventures with the Daihatsu Charade sedan, I feel the turnout today is more an improvement, and more local to some degree, too. Have a look.
I don't ever recall seeing a Toyota Lucida in Singapore, Malaysia or Celestar. These days, hearing from an archiving friend, Singapore has one Emina left (Which is badged as the Emina), while in Celestar, there is an estimation of 10 still around. As the newer Toyota MPV's have made better success plus other models like the Toyota Wish being a more successful venture, these Lucida / Emina have largely faded into obscurity. Still, props to modifying one, I'm surprised that someone has taken the time and effort to modify theirs, a decent difference to CI's current car culture of restoring old bangers and keeping them relatively stock.
By now we'd have traded the Airtrek's position with the Charade, our third car, along with the fourth.
I forget that the original W201 is long eligible for classic registration, both in Malaysia and Singapore. As such, our friends from CDS have temporarily imported one of their prized examples of the extremely rare 2.3-16 Cosworth wagons.
Built from a still-standing coachbuilding firmed located locally in Celestar, this is an extremely rare example of one of the wagons that they had produced. Only 5 of these were made, with all 5 still being accounted for as being registered, with this example being the first to be temporarily deregistered for use in another country. I hope Celestar never introduces the classic plate scheme like Singapore has.
But really, the turnout today is better compared to the previous meets hosted. lesser expat cars, and more common (somewhat) cars one could normally expect to find in Malaysia.
Haa. Well, that settles it. Its again another short article, and I would love to go back to reviewing more cars soon. For now, I'm off, and so is Ellise and our collegeues. Cherrio!
