I've now been able to retrieve the Lotus Elan after two repairs.
I never fully addressed this issue whereby when you went to shut the glovebox or even hit the dash on the passenger side by accident, the engine would immediately stop running. I haven't been stranded once from this until this time where it almost happened, luckily in a neighbourhood than in the middle of the road.
So we knew where the issue was. The first video was a friend alighting and hitting the dashboard by accident, and the second being an unsecured bag slipping and hitting the same place.
Went over to my workshop and demonstrated. Engine shut itself first time. Turns out one of the connectors that connected with the ECU was loose + broken off. It has since been mended.
Part of the repairs from a second visit was repairing the power steering pipe, which had begun to leak. I believe the play in the steering seems to no longer be present now, so at the very least I won't need to order new tie rods. Yet.
